 After my arrival from the USA into Tokyo Narita I checked in at the airport Hilton for an overnight stay. My onward flight would be departing from Haneda, quite a distance away so it meant a very early start the next morning. I specifically chose Haneda as Cathay offers First Class on that route but they don't from Narita. Firstly, the hotel. Hilton Narita is a short free shuttle bus ride from the airport and they have excellent rates. I payed the equivalent of approximately $100 AUD for the night. It would be even cheaper at today's exchange rates. The hotel is quite isolated but does have free shuttles to the nearby town. I was just here to relax so stayed in my room and ordered room service which was pretty ordinary.

After a pleasant day wandering around New Orleans and making a substantial donation to Harrah's Casino I took a taxi to the airport. It's a fixed fare of about $33 plus tip. I had been monitoring Flight Stats during the day because bad weather in Chicago had delayed or cancelled many flights. I was slightly stressed I would miss my connection and I was starting to regret my decision about flying the long way via Chicago rather than through Dallas. As I arrived at the terminal I found the flight was still scheduled on time, although the Miami flight had been cancelled and those passengers would be stuck in New Orleans overnight. The Hilton Barbados - Front Entrance For my short 2 night stay on the island nation of Barbados I selected the Hilton. It is one of the only major chain hotels in the country and it is still a relatively new property. The price seems to average USD200-USD250 per night, not exactly cheap but I found the hotel to be of a high standard. It's about a USD25 taxi ride from the airport and takes just 20 to 30 minutes to get there at most. Doubletree Suites Tower I got a good deal on priceline.com at the Doubletree Guest Suites and since it was my first time in New York, the location suited me well, right in the heart of Times Square. In fact I don't think you could get any nearer to the centre of Times Square than Doubletree. I arrived on a red-eye flight and the staff had no problems checking me in at 8am! In fact I must have looked a bit tired as the girl behind the desk guessed I had just come off a red-eye flight. I was really happy to get into the room early as I was in desperate need of a shower. I was presented with a warm choc-chip cookie as I completed check-in. I was given a corner room looking out over times square.
