The Royal Tour Part 9 - Windsor Castle

After landing back in London Heathrow early in the morning and with a late night flight to Bangkok scheduled I had most of the day spare. What better way to spend it than a lovely trip to the nearby town of Windsor and the amazing Windsor Castle. I took a local bus from the airport to Windsor which was a cheap and easy way to go and makes a side trip during long connections at Heathrow more than possible. Here is a few pics around Windsor....

I spent many hours exploring the grounds and the state apartments including a terrific display for Prince Philip's 90th birthday celebrations. All very interesting and I totally recommend visiting. The small town of Windsor is also really cute with lots of nice cafes and shops and things to look at. You can also take a cruise along the River Thames from here.

    What a great post and with some great pictures, just goes to show you that even in a short space of time there is plenty of opportunity to get out of London and see Windsor Castle.

Here's a look at another flight I took on my trip around India from November 2016. This flight was from the beautiful town of Udaipur to the metropolis of Mumbai. I booked it with Air India since their price was hard to beat and the timing suited me too. Originally this was scheduled to be flown with a fairly new A319 but a couple of weeks before departure the timing was changed slightly and the equipment swapped to an A320. Knowing that it was going to be an A320 I was aware there was a chance I might fly on a very rare beast, the double bogey model A320. I believe only 31 of these were ever produced and there is less than 20 still in operation. They were ordered new by Indian Airlines to operate on the rather poor airstrips that were around India in the late 80s and early 90s and were eventually inherited by Air India. Jetstar Starclass - Bangkok to Melbourne

JETSTAR flight JQ30 Airbus A330-200 VH-EBC (the white as opposed to silver A330) Bangkok to Melbourne ON TIME - arrived almost 1 hour early I recently returned to Melbourne from Bangkok and happened to pick up a very cheap Jetstar fare (about 8000 THB one way) with the thought to upgrade to starclass at the airport. I had read on frequentflyer.com.au that the price had recently dropped to 5900THB for the 'On Departure Upgrade' for this sector, which seemed like a bargain. Checking online the day of the flight showed 13 Starclass seats available, I hoped these wouldn't go before I got to the airport, so planned to arrive nice and early!! Flight was scheduled out at 22.00, with check in opening at 19.00, I got there about 19.20 and went to the service desk for Jetstar to inquire about the possibility of a paid upgrade. There was no queue at the service desk, and on arrival I was told the price was 8000 THB! I was disappointed the price had gone up, but what the hell, y
